Maria Merian Butterflies 4, In Yellow

Maria Sibylla Merian left Amsterdam in 1703 for Suriname in search of her understanding of the entomological world. She spent over 2 years in Suriname studying these insects and put together a collection of 72 plates of butterflies in their habitat, as well as illustrating the process of metamorphosis.
